My Gallery

Over the past year I have refinished several pieces of furniture. I have stripped, sanded, stained, painted, polyurethaned.... and have learned a lot through trail and error. :)

My first piece was my dinning room table. I did this last summer. I have already posted about it, but since it took 3 times for me to get it right (I sanded it down 3 times and started over), it's worth posting again.

The table and chairs look great in our new house. The black paint matches our granite counters. This picture is from our old apartment.

This was the second piece I did. Although it is small and I thought it would be easy... it was not. :) I don't have a before picture, but it was in bad shape. There was a large water spot from a potted plant on the top, among other things. I have changed the décor on the table since this picture.

This wasn't furniture, but it was still a project. I made this for the kids' room. I hand painted the sign and frames. I put a picture of Christ in the top frame and a picture of Ava and Tyler in the bottom two. It is now on their wall in their room.

I was itching to paint something red. So I went to work on this cute desk that is now in my craft room.

When I picked up this dresser from Craigslist, Justin wasn't impressed.

I started working on it in the fall of 2013, but the winter temperatures made it impossible to work on. All of the products I was using said to use in temperatures above 50 degrees. It was a cold winter. When it warmed up this spring, I got back to work!

I transformed it!
This was a stain/polyurethane in one.

I really wanted to make a chalkboard for my kitchen, but when I saw this framed chalkboard at Home Goods that was the perfect size, I decided to skip that part of the project. :) I did however, chalk/write the saying and art work. I'm excited that I can change what is on the board depending on the time of year, holidays, etc.

I liked this hutch, but I wasn't in love with the finish or hardware.

Now I need to go shopping to replace the green items. :)

I did a distressed look. Painted it red, distressed it with a sander, then stained it.

I've also done a lot of little projects like this candle stick.

I love making old things look new again!
I finished all of the pieces that were sitting in my garage, so I went to the thrift shop with a friend this week and picked up a couple more! :) More pictures to come once they are finished!

wow everthing turned out nice, but I LOVE the hutch transformation best. Mostly because you took close up pictures of how you used the sander to age it again after you repainted it a PERFECT color!!!!

Love the desk in your craft room too.
The dresser looks amazing!

you are very talented and I'm proud that hard work isn't scary to you. love, mom
