Everyday life

Nothing too exciting has been happening in the Hawes Home. Just everyday life! So here are a few snippets of what we do everyday.

Ava modeling her new skirt/shirt.

Most of you probably think Ava is just a sweet little girl. Well, here's her other side. :) Often, while we are in the kitchen, she will climb up the gate and yell at us because she wants in. The other day, she actually grabbed something off the counter while clinging to the gate. She is quite the monkey!
Ava is getting really curious about everything, and she likes to explore everywhere! She had fun with this box for a few hours!

I meant to take a picture, not a video .... oops! But here she is, playing in her drawers. Once, she pulled out the drawer above her while in the bottom drawer and got stuck. :)

As you saw from the gate picture, she likes to climb! She can now climb up on the dinning room chairs. Here she is climbing up our step ladder. (ps. please excuse the mess of our storage closet!) :)

Taking the dog for a walk.
Feeding her doll a bottle...of ketchup. :)
And so our days go, playing, climbing, and a little crying. :) If I had a picture to represent Justin right now, it would be of him watching the NCAA basketball tournament. My picture is below... all of these items were FREE!!

Hope you enjoy your "everyday."

Happy Birthday!

Our little girl turned 1 on Saturday, March 5th! I can't believe just a year ago she was a helpless little infant. Time flies and things have changed! Ava is developing quite the personality and likes to be independent at times. She loves to play, run, hug her stuffed animals, dance and throw her food. :) She keeps us on our toes! We have had a great year and are looking forward to many more.

My mom was able to come out for Ava's birthday. We had so much fun with her while she was here! We took Ava to the park.

We had fun pushing her around in this little car. She looks like she is concentrating on her driving in this picture. :)

On her birthday we went to the zoo.

She did a great job opening her presents, and didn't eat any paper! It was funny when the tape stuck to her fingers, she would frantically shake her hand until it was off.

This video cracks me up. She looks really confused as to why we are all singing.
When it was time for the cake, Ava really surprised me. I thought she would dig in and love all the sugar. Well, we sang "Happy Birthday" to her again, which I think put her on edge. :) Then when she stuck her fingers in the frosting, and the frosting wouldn't come off, she started crying. It took us a while to calm her down and actually get her to taste the cake! We were reminded of the song line, "It's my party, I can cry if I want to!"
Exciting news: Ava's hair is finally long enough for a pony tail. :)
Sorry, but I just had to post about this. My mom and I did a lot of couponing while she was here. I bought a whole cart full of groceries ($111 worth) and paid $15!! The cheerios below were free and the cinnamon toast crunch was .39/box! This makes me happy.

Happy Birthday, Big Girl!
