Our little boy joined the family!
Tyler Jason Hawes
Born: Friday, March 16th 3:28pm
(on Great Grandma Graff's Birthday!)
6lbs 8oz 20.5inches
Less than an hour old. Loving his daddy already.

Meeting brother for the first time.
First family photo. Why this picture? Ava and I were at the farm when I went into labor. I thought the baby lamb was fitting. :)
How often do you see this? Of course, it happened on Tyler's special day.

9am: Doctors appointment. 1.5 cm 80% effaced. Doesn't look like I'll have the baby today.
10:30 Took Ava to the farm.
11:30 Called and asked a friend to watch Ava so Justin and I could go on one last date.
11:50 Started having back pain at the farm.
12:00 Decided we better leave the farm so I wouldn't get stuck there, unable to drive home.
12:05 Hauled a screaming daughter to the car. She didn't want to leave.
12:10 Got home, told Justin to come home. (Luckily he was teleworking that day and was at our apartment complex business center. Otherwise the commute is 1hr 15mins)
12:15 Trying to decide if I was really in labor.
1:00 Called the doctor and told him I wanted to come in.
1:30 Dropped Ava off at a friend's house.
1:45 Arrived at doctor's office. Had 4 contractions between the elevator and his office door. Doctor checked, I was at 2cm.
2:00 Admitted to the hospital. (Luckily it is in the same parking lot as the doctor's office.)
2:45 Water broke. Contractions were horribly painful at this point. Begging for an epidural. Nurse checked, I was at 6cm.
3:00 Got epidural! Yay! Had 4 contractions while epidural was administered. Anesthesiologist gave extra drugs to make it work faster. The nurse told me he is the only doctor that would do that, and he's the best one they have. SO grateful he was working that day!! Otherwise, I may not have had a working epidural for the delivery!
3:15 Started pushing
3:28 Baby Tyler Born!
Crazy! I was just a pregnant mom at the farm with her 2 year old and now I had a baby boy in my arms. I asked the doctor what we would do next time. He said he would meet me at my driveway. :)
We were able to be discharged Saturday. Hooray! I am not a fan of hospital beds. Justin has been an amazing dad and husband, and I have felt wonderful since I've been home thanks to him doing all of the work!
Ava is a great big sister. She wants to hold Tyler all of the time. When he's hungry, she tries to share her snacks and got mad once when we wouldn't let her give him applesauce.
These pictures are from this morning (Sunday). She loves her brother! I did not ask her to pose like this, she just came over and gave him loves on her own. She is so gentle with him.

So glad I was on the computer when you updated your blog. What a wonderful post. I love tylers new outfit. His car seat cover is exceptional. So glad you have one mom that can sew up a storm! Tyler is so blessed to have loving parents and a wonderful Big Sister Ava. We sure love that little girl but it's easy to make room in our hearts for a sweet baby boy as well. You all look soooo happy! G-ma Graff says you gave her the BEST present ever! Todd and LuAnn came to visit and we had a nice BBQ lunch. It was a Great day!
May God continue to bless your little family. oxox love, mom
Congrats! What a head of hair. Sounds like you progressed fast! Glad things went well.
Great news and great story! Mike and I are very happy for you and your family. Just think about the story if you had not decided to head home. Headline: Tyler born with an assist by the farmer with lots of livestock birthing experience. Probably better than a cab driver or a police officer without medical training. Good on you folks and good on Tyler. I hope that he will realize early what great parents he has.
Oh what a cutie! And I love all that hair. Glad everything worked out well. It's kind of nice when they come fast, as long at you make it to the hospital in time:) Can't wait to meet him!
Let me know how I can help.
Tyler is adorable. Who came faster? Tyler or Ava? So happy for you guys.
Tyler is so adorable. It looks like his fingers are really long. Perfect for palming a basketball.
Tyler is adorable. It looks like his fingers are really long which is appropriate for March Madness. I bet he will be able to palm the ball by age 2.
Tyler 3.5hrs - in hospital for 1.5 hrs
Ava 5 hrs - in hospital for 3 hrs
Oh my goodness. 恭喜你们了!
He is so cute Tiffany! That is quite the labor story! He came so fast! I didn't think an epidural would work that fast - good thing :) The pictures and videos of Ava with Tyler are so cute. She is so sweet. You look very good too! Good luck with your two adorable kids! Enjoy the cuddle time :)
Congrats girl! He is so handsome! Sounds like a relatively quick delivery! HOORAY! I was in labor for so long but totally worth it :)
