National Zoo

On MLK Day, Justin and I visited the National Zoo. We saw the giant panda that will soon be sent back to China.

The coolest animals we saw were the big cats. Any other time I’ve been to a zoo, the “ferocious beasts” are usually curled up behind a rock, sleeping. Justin and I are sure that this zoo gives their big cats energy drinks; I’ve never seen such an active tiger in captivity. I got this great picture as the tiger was walking back and forth in front of the crowd he was attracting.

The lions were also impressive. As soon as we got there, the two lions stood on this wall and posed side by side for all to take pictures. They stood like that for a while, almost like they were trained to pose for pictures every five minutes. :)

Okay, so I think it’s lame that I haven’t been posting many pictures of US on OUR blog… but I don’t feel so inclined to post tons of pictures of my pregnant self. The ones on the side will have to be enough. So here’s a picture of skinnier days :) I was pregnant in this picture, but just 3 month along.

Last of all…. I don’t have a picture of it (I wish I did) but Justin and I took the metro (subway) to the zoo. When we got to our stop, we were about 250-300 feet underground. We took 1 HUGE escalator to ground level. It was pretty crazy… and scary, can you imagine losing your balance as the old thing lurches forward? Next time we go, I’ll get a picture. (Not all subway stops here are that far underground.)

I was thinking on Monday that maybe it was warm enough to head down there to the zoo! Too bad, we could have met up! We ended up running errands that day (lame, man).

Anyway, baby is almost here! Wahoo! Hope you're doing well.

The cat pictures are so cool!

You are getting so close to the end, and you still look little! Good luck. I'm excited to see your baby girl!

I like how you abbreviated Martin Luther King Day. At first I thought to myself, what is milk day...it must be a virginia thing and then realized there was no i in it and what it really was!
